The Snail and the Whale

A warm and imaginative storytelling that brings Julia Donaldson’s story vividly to life

The Snail and the Whale

On a small black rock at the edge of the harbour, a tiny sea snail dreams of seeing the world. Though he may be small, his imagination is enormous. With a shimmering silver trail, he writes a daring message: “Lift wanted around the world.”

When a great grey whale answers his call, an unforgettable adventure begins.

Together they sail across vast oceans and faraway lands — past towering icebergs, bubbling volcanoes, swooping seabirds, sharks, and penguins. The world feels thrilling and enormous, and the little snail soon discovers just how big — and sometimes frightening — it can be.

But when the mighty whale is suddenly stranded in a quiet bay, everything changes. Can one tiny snail, armed only with courage and a silvery trail, save his enormous friend?

Told through imaginative live storytelling, playful characterisation, and music, this Savannah Kids performance celebrates friendship, bravery, and the powerful idea that even the smallest creature can make a very big difference.
