The Tiger Skin Rug

An adventurous tale set in India about learning to be brave!

The Tiger Skin Rug

A sad, hungry tiger trudges through the jungle, too tired to hunt and teased by monkeys. Along comes a comic parrot — very pleased to still be alive — who sends him off to the Raja’s palace, where food is “much easier to come by.”

The tiger hatches a brilliant plan: he pretends to be the Raja’s tiger-skin rug, lying flat all day and sneaking out for midnight feasts every night. But the palace servant begins to notice something odd… The “rug” is getting heavier! As the tiger grows bigger, bolder, and harder to hide, trouble arrives in the form of palace burglars. Now he must choose: keep lying flat, or finally pounce?
